Faith First Together:
The program includes catechesis for all families. We are using
the Faith First textbooks by RCL, which is based on the four pillars of faith:
Creed, Liturgy & Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer. Each class will study the
four pillars at approximately the same time during the year. In addition,
lessons on the liturgical seasons (Advent, Christmas, Lent & Easter) are
incorporated.
PreK-6th GRADE STUDENTS
Classes are
held in the Aledo High School cafeteria and surrounding hallways. Volunteer
teachers and teacher assistants are provided with materials and curriculum to
meet the goals of the program. Each class has a teaching team of three.
Additional volunteers help prepare special events and crafts for the students.
Teachers receive ongoing formation in quarterly teacher meetings. All parents
of CRE students are asked to volunteer two Sundays each year to help set up and
take down the classroom tables and chairs. Our annual summer Vacation Bible
School program is an awesome week of fun, faith journey for our children.
Volunteers and their leads come together to provide music, crafts, bible study
and games. Planning and preparation start well in the spring.
ADULT/PARENT WORKSHOPS
One of the wonderful things about the Faith
First curriculum is that it brings the parents back into the education process
with their child. We conduct monthly workshops that provide formation for the
parents and adults in our parish on the four pillars of faith. Volunteers
assist with the teaching of these classes.
